Washington Man Arrested for DUI for THC in System

Posted by Mark Garka | Jul 27, 2017 | 0 Comments

In May, a 53-year-old Washington man was arrested for DUI and discovered to have more THC in his system than legally permitted. The legal limit for THC, the active ingredient found in marijuana, is 5 nanograms in the state of Washington. He had 54 times that much. Arrested for an alleged hit-and-run, the Washington State Police tested his blood and found he had surpassed the legal limit for THC.

Cases like this occur more often than people may believe, and the presence of THC in your system is enough to lead a charge or conviction of DUI. Marijuana DUI is punishable in the same fashion and to the same extent as a regular DUI, meaning it also results in the same social stigmas as a drinking and driving charge. The best way to prevent facing hefty fines, jail time, license revocation and suspension, as well as negative consequences in your personal and professional lives, is to ensure you are counseled, cared for, and represented by a Snohomish County DUI attorney with over 15 years of experience and success--such as Attorney Mark W. Garka.
