Were you arrested for a DUI charge in Washington State recently? If you were arrested for a DUI, you face a lot of questions about what the DUI means for you and your future. The best source of information is to talk with a DUI attorney in Washington State. You’ll find out what you need to do now, and what you can expect in the future.

For a first time DUI offense, you could be facing one year in jail, a $5,000 fine, and a two-year suspension in all driving privileges. But that doesn’t have to be the only outcome. When you work with a DUI attorney in Washington State, your defense could create a dramatically different conclusion.

For instance, if you were arrested in Snohomish County, you should consult a Snohomish County WA DUI attorney. Your attorney may be able to minimize the charges made against you, help you negotiate a plea-bargain, or work with you for a reduced sentence.

Of course, one of the main considerations of a DUI is the affect it has on your driving privileges. If you refused to submit to a breathalyzer or blood-alcohol test, it will result in the immediate revocation of your license  for one year by the Department of Licensing. If convicted of a first time offense DUI and you refuse to submit to a breathalyzer or blood alcohol test, you face a two year revocation of your license by the court.   But when you work with your Snohomish County WA DUI attorney, he or she may be able to negotiate some driving privileges, perhaps a work permit.

Another factor to consider is that a conviction for a DUI will stay on your record. That means every time you apply for a job that requires driving, or apply for bonding or insurance, you’ll have to check “yes” for a DUI record. Sometimes this will be a make or break decision in a potential job application.

Working with a DUI attorney in Washington State could change that outcome – if you are charged and convicted of a lesser charge, you won’t face these repercussions in the future.

Even if you are ultimately convicted of a DUI, you may not have the DUI conviction on your records for the rest of your life. In general, a DUI conviction stays on your license indefinitely. It’s not like a credit record, where credit problems fall off your record after seven years.

DUI arrests and convictions carry severe penalties, but you don’t have to suffer from them for the rest of your life. Seek the advice of a good DUI attorney in Washington State and you’ll find that you can move on from this arrest and look to a new future.
