If you have been convicted of DUI before, and are now facing a second conviction, you need to look at the possible penalties you may be facing in a very serious light.
A second or third DUI in Edmonds, WA or any other part of Washington State for that matter, carry some very stiff penalties. If you are facing such penalties, you need to better understand the law and what the penalties can bring. The consequences of 2 or more DUIs in Washington State are severe!
On your second conviction, if your blood alcohol content tested at less than 0.15%, you will receive at least 30 days or at most one year in jail. If your blood alcohol content was above 0.15%, you will find yourself behind bars for a minimum of 45 days or up to one year. On a second or subsequent offense, jail time is very hard to avoid.
When you are released from jail, electronic home monitoring may also be required for a period of at least 60 days. This ankle-bracelet type monitoring device will keep track of where you are at all times. The monitoring device cannot be removed, or additional penalties will be imposed.
In addition to jail time and 24 hour a day monitoring, fines will likely be imposed, ranging from $1000 and up to $8000. In addition, your license may be suspended for up to two years. With these penalties, you can see you will have lost your freedom and incurred some hefty blows to your pocketbook!
Further, as this is your second conviction, you may also be facing alcohol or drug assessment and up to five years probation. This means, for up to five years from your release from jail, you must be on good behavior and you may not encounter any difficulties with the police or the law. Violating your probation can result in additional fines and fees, as well as additional jail time.
As you can see, the consequences of 2 more DUIs in Washington State are quite severe. In fact, after your second conviction, things only get worse. You will encounter extended jail time, heavier fines, extended monitoring, and longer periods without you wheels! A DUI in Edmonds, WA or any party of Washington State is a very serious matter.
