What Happens If I Plead Guilty To My Washington State

If you've been arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI/DWI) in Washington
State, you may want to plead guilty and settle the matter as quickly as
possible. If after I lay out all your options you come to that decision, then
there are a number of things I will do for you. When you were arrested, whether
you refused the breath test or if you failed it, you were issued a temporary
license valid for 60 days. We will work with you to get the plea settled as
quickly as possible to minimize the interruption and inconvenience to your life.
Here is what you can expect to happen:
- You may be sentenced to jail, pay fines, and lose your privilege to drive.

- I will make sure you are scheduled for a DUI Victim's Impact Panel before
we go to court. This again, is a necessary requirement.
- If you lose your privilege to drive, we will discuss the availability of an Ignition Interlock License (IIL). See, Ignition Interlock License (IIL).
- If you have had any other traffic violations in the past 5 years, please
let me know right away, as that can affect your license status.
- After pleading guilty, you will have to pay a number of fees and a fine.
You will be put on probation for a likely
period of 24 to 60 months.
